Drivers who are fleeing from police may be putting others in danger. Their intention to get away from the cops may mean that they speed or drive recklessly. In doing so, they could hit other vehicles and cause serious injuries or deaths.

That’s sadly what happened in this case, according to news out of Daytona Beach. The news states that a 50-year-old man passed away after being struck by a 31-year-old man’s vehicle. The younger man was allegedly fleeing from the police after running a stop sign at Cedar Street and South Carolina Street.

The 50-year-old man passed away at the scene after being struck as he entered into an intersection. The young man fleeing the police had reportedly ignored the red light at that intersection, hitting the driver’s side of the other man’s vehicle. This forced the older man’s vehicle to spin and hit a palm tree and telephone pole.

The younger man’s car hit three additional cars before eventually coming to a stop. The 31-year-old man was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center and has life-threatening injuries. He was in critical condition at the time of the report.

As someone who has lost a loved one in a collision like this, it’s important for you to know that you can pursue a claim against an at-fault driver for the havoc they’ve caused in your life. This type of civil claim operates independently of any criminal charges they may be facing.

The result of a reckless driver’s actions may have been unintentional, but you still have to deal with the fallout of losing your family member. You have every right to seek fair compensation for your losses.
