While these intervention methods can help improve the mood, negative symptoms and normal functioning of a person living with schizophrenia, the overall and long-term effectiveness of these interventions are inconclusive. Thus, even if the severity of the illness is reduced, a person living with schizophrenia could still be considered disabled in the sense that they can no longer work or provide for themselves financially.
