Car crash kills 1, injures several on Florida Turnpike

When a driver isn’t paying close attention to the road or makes a mistake, their error could quickly cause a serious crash. Unfortunately, passengers are often injured in these crashes. Sometimes, they pass away.

Take, for example, a case out of Florida from June 23 in which an elderly woman was killed. A three-car crash on the Florida Turnpike took the woman’s life when the driver of a van with three people inside didn’t slow down or yield to traffic. The van hit the rear-end of a second van that had a woman and two children inside. A third vehicle, a pickup truck, was also involved.

An 84-year-old woman who was seated in the rear of the first van was killed in the collision. The driver, 64, and passenger, 63, both suffered serious injuries in the collision.

While the pickup driver was not injured, the second van’s occupants, a 64-year-old woman and two young girls, were seriously hurt. It’s not clear why the first van didn’t slow down for traffic, but in the end, several people ended up with significant injuries and one person lost their life.

If you are involved in a car crash like this one, it’s important to know that the driver who was acting negligently or recklessly may be able to be held liable for the incident. They should take responsibility for any injuries or damages they’ve caused. If you’re hurt or lose a loved one, you may want to pursue a claim against the driver’s insurance, or if they don’t have it, against them directly.
