SSD benefits may be available to rotator cuff injury sufferers

Many Floridians work in jobs where they perform the motion over and over again. The work itself can be monotonous, but these jobs can also be well-paying, providing an individual and his or her family with the financial stability they need. However, the human body is a fragile thing, and repetitive motion can lead to significant injuries. When this happens, an individual’s entire life can be turned upside down, especially when the injury leaves an individual unable to work and earn the wages on which he or she and his or her family expect.

One type of injury that can lead to disability is a rotator cuff injury. The rotator cuff, a group of tendons and muscles around the shoulder, can become injured when overhead motions are made repeatedly. Signs of a rotator cuff injury include a dull ache deep in the shoulder joint, trouble sleeping on one’s side, and arm weakness. Positions in which this injury can be suffered include painters and carpenters.

Though many rotator cuff injuries will repair on their own with little medical attention, untreated and severe injuries may result in permanent arm. Those who suffer these types of injuries may experience permanent arm weakness or even degeneration of the joint. When such damage leaves an individual unable to work, he or she may be concerned about how to make ends meet.

Fortunately, the Social Security disability system may provide relief. Those who are incapable of working due to a disabling injury or medical condition may be awarded compensation in the form of monthly payments to help them cover medical expenses and lost wages. These benefits can provide significant financial relief, leaving a family with a sense of stability in a time of hardship. Yet, the Social Security disability claims process can be complicated and frustrating. By acquiring the assistance of a legal professional, though, these individuals may stand a better chance at seeing success at the end of the claims process.
